Less Display, More Milky Way

Less screen time, more real experiences 🌌

ABOUT THE PROJECT

“Less Display, More Milky Way” is an international project by the My Future Foundation, carried out under the Erasmus+ program, taking place from October 9 to 18, 2026, in Jedlnia-Letnisko. The project will bring together 43 participants from Poland, Lithuania, and Portugal—including young people, youth leaders, and a facilitator. Together, we will create a space for learning, building international connections, and discovering what happens around us when we put our phones aside for a moment.

The project aims to raise awareness among young people about FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), excessive screen time, and the impact of technology and social media on our attention, emotions, habits, and how we spend our time. Participants will learn about digital hygiene and online safety, and explore ways to regain control over their time and build a healthier relationship with technology.

Why does this matter? Smartphones and the internet are an integral part of our lives—so the goal isn’t to give them up entirely, but to use them more consciously. Through this project, young people will develop practical stress-management techniques, practice mindfulness, and gain a better understanding of their own needs, boundaries, and signs of overwhelm. At the same time, participants will strengthen skills valuable for education and future careers: communication, collaboration, creativity, problem-solving, self-confidence, and self-awareness.

A unique feature of the project will be stargazing and exploring the cosmos. Stargazing and outdoor activities will offer an alternative to screen time, providing a chance to learn about the stars, the basics of astronomy, and the issue of light pollution. We want to show that relaxation, curiosity, and meaningful experiences don’t have to start with a screen. 🌠

The program includes workshops, team-building exercises, intercultural activities, outdoor pursuits, stargazing, and a trip to Warsaw. A key aspect of the exchange will be collaboration among young people from three countries, making joint decisions, and taking responsibility for specific parts of the project. This ensures that participants are not merely passive recipients of activities but active co-creators.

“Less Display, More Milky Way” is more than just an educational project. It is an invitation to discover what we gain when we swap some of our screen time for connection with people, nature, our own thoughts, and… the Milky Way. Participants will return not only with memories and international friendships but also with practical skills they can apply in school, future jobs, and daily life.
